When you sit under a tree, one of the greatest immediate benefits is the shade. Most of the time we do not think about the individual leaves that give us that shade, but without each of them, we would not have the comfort and refreshment that a good shade tree provides. 

At Olive Technology we realize the power of many small actions to greatly impact the world; just like the leaves on the tree. That is the vision behind Olive’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program: The Olive Leaf Project . We are committed as a company to be involved in many causes both in India, the US and around the world. Our hope is that the small efforts our staff and our partner organizations make will be like the leaves of a tree providing shade to many who are struggling in this world. 

But what is our Olive Leaf Project all about? Below is an interview with SubbaRao Peddibhotla who is heading up this project for Olive Technology.

How did you get interested in CSR?

The reason why I am passionate about this cause is because I have been a part of a foundation named "Friends of Max,” which supports patients suffering from CML which is Blood Cancer. There I have seen the sufferings and pain of the people in front of my eyes. Because of this I wanted to do something that can be a help to the society. I am thankful to Vijay Burton who gave me an opportunity to lead the Olive Leaf Project.  

Why do you believe that it is important for organizations to be intentional in their investment in the community?

This project reflects the other face of Olive Technology. Our team has a passion to help those who need help and support. The goal of doing such activity in Olive is to encourage a positive impact on those in need, the environment, our employees, Olive’s stakeholders and all other members who are related to Olive in some way or the other.

What is unique about Olive Technology's CSR program?

The uniqueness of the Olive Leaf Project is the involvement of all the throughout the organization. Staff is donating money monthly and we have planned to visit the organizations physically to do the whole cause with our own hands. We have planned to do it every first Saturday of the month. 

How is the team responding to the opportunity to be involved?

We have received a tremendous response from our team so far this month. We are expecting that we will reach our goal for the first month of 10,000 Rupees (approximately 200.00 USD). 

How does a global company like Olive Technology decide how to engage their community, country and the world responsibly?

Olive Technology decides to engage their community, country and the world responsibly by helping them in all possible ways, right from sponsoring a child for study to sponsoring meals for elderly people. Currently we are planning on giving to Indian organizations, but we want to spread this cause internationally in subsequent time. We are reviewing options to give in Colorado Springs, where our US office is located, and around the world.

What is your hope for this program at Olive?

I hope through this program we will be able to raise awareness among people in various fields. This will also help us to project the softer side of Olive. I would definitely like to take this campaign to the next level.
